These are the top tech tools that I recommend to Teachers who are looking to explore using technology in their teaching and as a professional development tool. I've included resources on all three, but here's a short blurb for each on why I think these are good places to start.
- Twitter Resources. Twitter is the number one professional development tool I recommend. It's connecting to people by interest not geography, asynchronously/synchronously, and on your schedule. This is an old video of mine, but this sums up my thoughts on Twitter.
- Social Bookmarking Resources. Socialbookmarking is for finding/saving/organizing bookmarks online. Here's a short video of why I think it's really useful and the power of the network. More useful than your favorites bar and can be an easy way to share your "file cabinet" of web resources with students and colleagues. Pinboard and Diigo are the examples that I mentioned.
- Flipboard Resources. I've started recommending this as the first tool to check out and use because it's a very easy way to bring tech into the classroom and saves you time sharing current, relevant information. It's also very easy to collaborate with colleagues on curating resources. Flipboard uses infinite scroll, so it's great for current stuff but not as great for saving/searching online articles and websites. For that, I recommend social bookmarking.

Use Twitter to Develop a Personal Learning Network (PLN) EdTechBible: There is a chapter with more details on using Twitter professionally. To the right are some of the specific hashtags that would be of interest, but I urge you to explore the resources both on the EdTech site and in my book as there are so many wonderful places on Twitter where educators are connecting and sharing ideas. |

What's So Delicious About Social Bookmarking
Kristen's Bookmarks: Elementary
The first chapter in my book speaks about social bookmarking. Just be aware that you can no longer create an account for the specific tool "Delicious," however all of the tips and strategies still apply to alternative tools such as Diigo or Pinboard.

Treglia: PreCalculus
It's been over 10 years since I've taught high school math, so not only am I very excited to be back in the classroom teaching kids but I'm also excited to be able to put into practice some of the things I've learning about teaching and technology since I started working at Fordham. I found out that I would be teaching that section days before the first class so I will be updating this site over the course of the summer semester. So check back for a more comprehensive look at the class!
